The Gipps Street Recreation Precinct has just been named Community Facility of the Year at the Parks & Leisure Australia National Awards of Excellence – a major industry honour recognising outstanding community infrastructure across the country.
It’s an incredible achievement and a testament to Penrith City Council’s vision in transforming the 32-hectare former landfill site into a vibrant, inclusive recreation destination.
This national accolade adds to a strong list of awards the precinct has received throughout 2025, including:
- Community Facility of the Year, Parks & Leisure Australia NSW/ACT Awards of Excellence
- Liveable Cities Award, Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Sustainable Cities Awards
- Outdoor Sport & Leisure Facility Design, Australian Sport, Recreation and Play Innovation Awards
Together, these awards highlight the project’s strong collaboration and leadership, along with the precinct’s long-term community value and impact.
