Glascott is proud to have contributed to the delivery of The GreenWay, a transformative 6 km shared walking, cycling and recreation corridor delivered for Inner West Council in Sydney’s Inner West.
Gartner Rose was the Principal Contractor on the project, delivering the major civil and structural works and partnering with Glascott to deliver key landscaping components. The two businesses share a long-standing relationship, having collaborated on numerous projects, including the award-winning Coal Loader Green Roof.
Decades in the making, The GreenWay has been shaped by strong community advocacy, evolving from a local vision into a regionally significant piece of green infrastructure. Now officially open, it provides uninterrupted shared paths that support safer active travel and everyday recreation for surrounding communities.
Running alongside the light rail corridor and Hawthorne Canal, The GreenWay integrates landscaped public spaces with cultural and historical elements and environmental enhancements. The project delivers measurable benefits through increased tree canopy, improved stormwater management and enhanced habitat for native species, transforming former transport infrastructure into a thriving green environment.
Working closely with Gartner Rose, Glascott’s role focused on the delivery of Johnson’s Park, Herculis Parkland and Gadigal Reserve, along with fencing and surrounding soft landscaping. These works enhance usability, durability and long-term sustainability, contributing to a cohesive and high-performing public realm.
Following completion, Glascott will continue to provide warranty maintenance, supporting continuity of care and ensuring the new environments establish, mature and perform as intended. This ongoing involvement protects the project’s long-term value while supporting Inner West Council and Aspect Studio’s vision for connected, resilient public spaces.
